1 KT-100 tubes on Fri Mar 27, 2009 6:45 pm

I have just noticed that besides KT88's and KT90's, there are also KT1OO'S.
Where do these fit in the great scheme of things?

Hi Bill,

The KT100 is supposedly and upgraded and "ruggedized" KT88 with (I believe) a higher voltage rating than a KT88. I personally have never seen one, handled one or used one in any amp. I believe they are all of Chinese origin and are sometimes found in Chinese amps imported to the USA.

Hi Bob,

Yes, they are Shuguang tubes from China and they are supposed to be a better
more rugged version; however, they (the KT100's) are less expensive $50 per pair as opposed to $65 per pair for the KT88's. Seems a little odd?
