Then, I guess you need something to check your tubes with?

I replaced the panel and mounting harware with new SS replacements, then had it refurbished and calibrated. I had not seen one of these since, televisions had tubes!

That's a Beauty!

When I was a kid, I worked at a drugstore that had a "Do it Yourself" tube tester.
Nobody was allowed to Do it Themselves, the Manager always made me do it for them.

I was actually pretty pleased with that; so, one day, I asked the Manager why me?
I figured he'd say something nice about my education
(a whole year of electronics shop in high school!),
or that I was good with customers, or some similar thing.

Alas no, the answer I got was,

"Well Kid, I guess you're expendable."
