Dual analog meter mod for ST - 70

Post by Feistygoat on Mon Feb 13, 2012 2:33 am

    Hello all,
    I'm running a really sweet ST-70 with a PAS 3x.
Instead of using my digital meter to periodically bias the amp, I wanted to wire in two vintage analog 0-5 volt DC panel meters
that I have. I figure I just tap the positive line in the bias port to the positive side of one meter, and then the negative side of the meter to the chassis - then do the exact same with the other meter on the other channel.
Is this correct/safe to do, and is it ok to have constant (albeit low at 1.56 volts) voltage running to the meters? this would create a really cool look, and add some fun the biasing ritual. I just want to make sure I'm not putting any stress on my equipment. Any and all help is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

I can see no reason why having a analog 5 volt meter measuring the bias continuously would be a problem.

Thanks for the help. I'll post pics to the sight once they're up and running
