    If cap with voltage rating 330VAC (~460VDC), can I use it as power supply cap (40mf) right after the 5AR4 in VTA ST-70??

    not unless you want it to blow up, the cap after the rectifier needs to be rated at least 500vdc !!

    That capacitor sounds like a non-polarized electrolytic used for motor starting or running. Don't use it for power filtering. That is not what it was meant to do. It may work, but as previously stated, the voltage rating is too low and it may fail prematurely.
