This is my question........Is the Mono-Stereo switch on the ST70 used if you want to run two amps in mono (as in mono block), i.e. 60 watt amp per channel or is it to select between mono and stereo format?? Thank You for your help.

It parallels the two channels into one, sending one channel's input to both amplifier channels as a monoblock amplifier; the outputs of the two amplifier channels are connected together to drive a single channel's loudspeaker. However, as has been discussed here before, this mode of operation is useless for high quality sound. In normal stereo operation, negative feedback signals are intended to correct nonlinearities IN EACH CHANNEL INDIVIDUALLY; when the two channels are paralleled, the feedback signals get combined, too; thus they do not perform this same correction, causing distortion to rise sharply. It does not even double the power, as claimed.

GP49, Thank You.........for some reason I thought an ST could be used as a mono block amp, but then I am new to the ways of stereo amp knowledge.
