Best way to burn in new PH6 & SP10 Empty Best way to burn in new PH6 & SP10

I just finished building Roy's Mottram's PH6 and SP10 in his 16" wide chassis w/ black knobs and black paddle toggle switches. (Will post a few pictures later.) I substituted the stock film capacitors with AudioCaps and KimberKaps. I also increased the value of the electrolytics. Now it's time to burn-in the whole thing. While I can set my Marantz CD deck to repeat play - and speed up the power supply and line stage burn-in, how can I speed up the phono stage (PH6) burn-in?? I have only Ariston RD11s and Kenwood KD500 turntables - no automatics. Could I feed the CD player - via an appropriate volume pot - through the phono input on the preamp?? Would this cause any damage? Is there a downside to this approach? Is there another approach that doesn't require me to sit beside a single play turntable and "reset" the tonearm - over and over and over?

    Appreciate the help!

    Here's I do it:

Use a transistor pocket radio with a earpiece jack as the source. Tune between stations and you have pink noise source.

Make an adapter with 2 phono plugs tied to a 470k - 1meg resistor.

Tie the loose leg of the resistor to a plug that fits in the earpiece jack.

Use the volume control on the radio to set the level.

Keep the volume control on the preamp at max while burning in.
    -------------------added----------------
Keep the preamp plugged into your amp while burning in. Or make jacks with resistors to simulate being plugged into an amp. This will ensure that the output caps get burned in too.

    Hawaii-Ken:

Excellent way to accomplish the burn-in! What is your experience with an "average" burn-in time using this [nonstop] process? Are we taling hours, days, weeks or what?

I followed your suggestion and I left the preamp connected to my poweramp. However, I did turn off the poweramp - just to save mine and the families' ear drums. Am I accomplishing the same level of burn-in on the preamp output stage caps - when the poweramp is powered down??

Finally, what is your opinion as to TUBE burn-in. Does one or the other - of capacitors and tubes - typically require a more burn-in?

Burn-in time for caps varies widely with the materials used to make them. Plastic film caps usually in 2-24 hours while PIO seem to take 50-200 hours.

I don't have much experience with TUBE burn-in because, up till recently, I only bought/used pre-owned tubes.
