Hi, vta st120. Why is the neutral switched and not the hot? What's the preferred way? What's the difference? Thanks.

if you have a power cord that is color coded correctly (black is hot, white is neutral) then the black wire of the power cord should go to the switch and/or the fuse).
In most real practice, the power cord is not color coded (Dyna cord was two brown wires) replacements are usually two black wires.
One wire from the power cord goes to the switch, the other wire from the power cord goes to the fuse.
The black wires from the power transformer are not polarized, either can go to switch or fuse. The white wires on the power transformer are 5 VAC for the rectifier tube.

So wall neutral (white) should go directly into transformer, and wall hot should go to switch then fuse. Right now neutral is switched and hot is fused. I dont know why. It's a Color coded cable.
The (and / or) means if there's no switch? In my line of electrical work, we wire the hot thru switch and fuse like a disconnect. Is there any benefit of switching the neutral?
