EL 34s in the VTA ST-70 Empty EL 34s in the VTA ST-70

My ST-70 came with Valve Art EL 34's. I swapped in the Ruby EL 34BHT's from my RFTLYS and thought the Valve Arts sounded better.

I've been looking at some NOS EL 34's and have my eye on either some early 80's Teslas or early '70's RFTs. I can't afford the heavy cork sniffer tubes.

I don't have any EL 34 experience beyond these stereo amps. Any opinions? Stick with the Valve Arts?

    Thanks.

EH 6CA7 sound excellent. JJ EL34L sound very good too. JJ KT77. The best NOS I have are Sylvania big bottle 6CA7. The EH is their version of it. Bob also recommends Gold Lion KT66.

    Valve art EL34 is ok.
Currently i use JJ 6550 which gives slightly better speaker control.

I'm using Groove Tubes reproduction of the Mullard EL34 and like them better than the Winged C Svetlana. Though Groove Tubes don't seem to generate much conversation on this forum.

I settled for Gold Lion KT77 after having tried Sovtek KT88 and Winged C EL34. Even the wife could hear the difference cheers
