    I was wondering if the chokes are particularly better than a resistor and if not what value would be ideal for the ST120?

    Using chokes in a power supply preservers more of the power. Resistors burn off power to clean the signal. Resistors are a lot cheaper but I think in Amplifiers you are better off with chokes. In a preamp where you are dealing with such low mil-amps to begin with resistors make more sense. You can play with the calculators below to see exactly how LC and RC filters work.
