I'd think a lot of that can be ascribed to all the problems folk have wit DRM issues ... not a problem with the physical media.
I've ripped all my vinyl and tapes to digital - doesn't stop me from spinning the real thing if I've a mind to. Kind of a zen thing, doncha know.

I've always been a vinyl spinner, going all the way back to the 60's. Don't even own a digital streamer thingy.

Single Source.
Operative word here is "Purchase".
a) Physical media has always had is adherents.
b) Digital (soft) media has always had its adherents.
c) The last two generations of media consumers are loath to pay for anything, do not give a single **** about fidelity, and think earbuds and laptop speakers are the beginning and the end of sound.
e) They were the last big purchasers of all digital (soft) media.
No surprise there.

jfine, I'm hybrid. Mainly analog, but digital s/s if I'm feeling lazy or just listening to background music and don't want to be burning off precious tube hours. Plus I think ripping CDs and running that through a decent DAC and ripper gives an almost analog sound. The DAC is the key.jfine wrote:I thought you were all digital codger?

I would agree, that's what I do, except my DAC is a POS.

I will be streaming (cd resolution) Tidal through a Mac Mini and an Audio Note DAC 4.1 (Multibit R2R with tube power and output stages, internally transformer coupled and filtered) through my custom SP14 and M-125s on to my Magneplanar 3.6/R or PBN Montana EPS speakers. Currently running a Theta DsPro GenV(a) multibit R2R DAC.
