    Looking for mk iii information

Post by notboating on Tue Dec 17, 2013 8:18 am

My first venture into tube gear was a pair of refurbed Mk iii's and I absolutely love them. I have finally achieved that sound i remeber from my youth... In any case, I'm interested in what tubes other Mk iii owners are using in their amps and what the  percieved changes were as a result.

I am also looking for a good resource on adjusting the bias. How to know when to do it as well as how to do it.

    Thanks in advance for sharing!

    Pre: McIntosh C-28
    Amp: Dynaco Mk iii's
    Speakers: Tyler Acoustic Linbrook Signature
DAC: Grant Fidelity Tube Dac 11
    CD: Onkyo 525
    Analog: Systemdek IIX

As regards to bias adjustment, pick up the mkIII manual, om page 11 the procedure is described.
( how often ? Well whenever tubes are replaced or 4 times a year  whichever comes first)

Cool i have a nice pair that i purchased on ebay . they had weak guitar tubes in them which i  replaced with sovtek 6550's i briefly tried groove tube 6550 's but i prefer the sovteks . i have some spares that are ge branded . when the sovteks go i will probably go with the general electrics . they are nice amps  . i hope you enjoy them as much as i do . i have to put photos of them up .
