My DIY ST70 Empty My DIY ST70

Post by nraghunadh Mon Nov 05, 2012 2:45 pm

I have finished my st70 last week. I used PC3 clone and 7199 driver tubes.
I used original 50's design and changed to look only. Many thanks to bob, i have followed the bob's tips to make it.
Now i am using 6L6 and KT88 tubes. I need to buy good EL34 tubes for this amp
I am posting final amp photos and giving the Picasa link for work progress photos.

By far, that's the nicest stock circuit ST-70 I've seen.

    That is really fine.
Curious, what kind of "pf" caps did you use?

Very nicely done!  Handy to have access to a milling machine, isn't it! If you are looking for different tubes, I highly recommend a set of Golden Lion KT77 tubes. They sound better, IMHO, than stock Dynaco-Mullard 6CA7s.

So what was your reason for going with the stock Dynaco driver circuit as opposed to a board that uses more readily accessible tubes?
