    looking to purchase a set of M125 (Kit) but it is configured with a solid state rectifier with TDR. I would want to go with a CZ tube rectifier. Is this a good way to go or stick with SS RECTIFIER? Is there a sound difference between the 2 types of rectifier and are there issues with SS rectifier vs CZ Rectifier?

    The determining factor is this. If you are using lower efficiency speakers and tend to play your music pretty loud, a solid state rectifier is probably best. A solid state rectifier will keep the B+ high voltage fairly high even when playing the amp at higher volume levels. If your speakers are fairly efficient (90 dB or higher efficiency) and you don't play your music at higher volume levels much of the time, a tube rectifier will work just fine in the VTA M-125's.

    The problem we have using modern rectifier tubes is that they are made in Russia, China and the Slovak Republic. The alloys for the metal inside that they use in today's rectifier tubes are less costly and quality control and pretesting of the newer tubes is not as good as older tubes that use to be made in the USA, Great Britain and Germany.

    I haven't noticed any sound differences with the Weber SS and with high quality glass (GZ37) with mine.

    Tube rectifier voltage output sags with increased current output and compresses dynamics. Strong bass modulates the mids and treble.
    They are great for crunchy guitar but have no place in a HiFi amplifier.

    As fast they could, HiFi amplifier manufacturers discarded them.
