    SP12 R&L Gain Controls Empty SP12 R&L Gain Controls

    Post by guentherj2 Thu Jun 05, 2014 1:16 pm

Can somebody please explain the purpose/correct use of the preamp's separate right and left gain controls. For example - difference between operating with the gains at click 1 and volume turned up high or gains at click 10 and volume turned down lower?

This came to my attention after I replaced my volume potentiometer. I have always kept both gain controls all the way up at 10 to get barely loud volume even with the volume at 75%.

I replaced the volume potentiometer and wow - now I can turn the gains way down and it gets real loud with the volume at 30 to 50%. I think I had a defective volume potentiometer.

    Thanks,

    John
