    Can't resist showing you guys what I found... I learned that for the show they added the handle and the antenna for effect, but this was the very model that sailed into history, a Packard-Bell AR-851:

    Early transistor to be sure. BUT, if you watch some of the episodes closely, you can see the Skipper and Professor handling some tubes for whatever gadget they were working on. I believe they're on Netflix and Amazon streaming.

    Recall an episode where the Prof was turning it into a transmitter to contact a cruise boat off the horizon. Thanks for the sea water battery comment -- I could never figure out why they never ran out of battery power. Also prefer Maryann, but Ginger had her own coconuts too...........
