    September 2014 TubeFest in Montana

Post by Guest on Tue Jun 03, 2014 3:41 pm

    To all!
I know I've got a post about this in the announcement section, but though I put it here as well to hopefully get more exposure....so to say!

We are looking at planning a get together of members from this Forum, plus friends & family, for the first annual (hopefully) tube audio orientated meet.
The idea is to get like minded boffins to spend a few days, as to how long, that can all still be planned, to listen to tube generated music and show off ones gear.....AUDIO gear that is!!!!  affraid
Bring your tube gear, speakers, vinyl yadda yadda yadda. We can crank it up, nearest neighbor is about 1.5 miles from us.
My wife Kelly and I will host this first meet. We have 50acres here, so bring your RV, we have a creek at the back of our property...water is good, but we do have running potable water and we even have a RV dump, power too can be handled, we have a 7KW portable generator!
Time, September, where....well here of course!!! So where is here you ask, good question, glad you asked!
We live in Cameron, about 16 miles south of Ennis off HWY 287 in the beautiful Madison Valley where the Madison river runs through it...fly fishing is awesome, the Madison is considered a blue ribbon fishery, yes, I fly fish, used to be a guide too, but thats another story.
Ennis is about 65 miles south/west from Bozeman MT. We are also about one hours drive from the famous Yellowstone park, so there is plenty to do and see in this area. You can plan a longer trip and get to know our valley and surrounds.
If RV'ing is not your style, Ennis has a ton of motels and cabins, from budget to the high life!
    So how about it?
Interested members can either pm me are reply here.
We need to tie down the length and dates of this meet, so bring on your suggestions!

a very important update on the proposed Tube Fest.
Roy Mottram, aka tubes4hifi, is most likely going to attend!
He also suggested that we hold some workshops, say on soldering skills, as this seems to be a problem area with kit builders, Q&A about tube amps etc., kits and assembly techniques, Roy is also suggesting that he would be willing to sell kits at the meet for some discount and get buyers started on the assembly of them.
So this is indeed great news, Roy is extremely knowledgeable in electronics and tubes, this would be a great opportunity to 'pick' his brains!

bumping it up to the top, come on members, this could really be a ton of fun.
If we get enough interest, I am looking at using the local old school building, a renovated early 1900's building, perfect for such a venue!
So get your tube gear and make the effort. Some well known members are seriously considering to attend.
Make it worth your while, take some extra days and go see Yellowstone park, fish the Madison, Gallatin and Yellowstone rivers, go for hikes in our wilderness, the activities one can have here are endless!

yeah, I90 East, all the way to Wheat Montana at Three Forks, whilst you're at Wheat Montana, grab a few dozen bear claws, they are to die for, head south on 287 and you'll come all the way to the Blue Moon Saloon in Cameron, thats where you turn left into Bear Creek Loop, our road.....easy!!  Very Happy Very Happy

OK, now, can we please get a head count of attendees in September, scary thing is, it aint that far away!!!
What we would also like to know, how many, if ANY, are planning to bring their RV.
As I've said, you can camp here, no probs.
There is also the Cameron RV park, part of the Blue Moon Saloon, our local watering hole. They also have pretty neat cabins, fully self contained. I am sure Jerry, the owner, could cut us a bit of a deal if attendees without RV's are happy to stay there. You're only yards from the beer tap!
The Blue Moon Saloon is 4 miles from our place on HWY 287 in the hamlet of Cameron, about 15 miles south of the town of Ennis.
So if we could please can get an idea of how many people, how many RV's, if any, and then we can plan the next stage, thank you all!
