Just curious y'all.  Don't know where I've been, but....I just learned of the Shuguang Treasure KT88-Z and the 6CA7-Z.  I guess there is a Psvane iteration of these as well.....Anyone tried these?  Thanks as always.

well the prices they charge they want to be REALLY good...and I mean REALLY GOOD!
I am always somewhat cautious about these types of tubes/manufacturers....can the average listener really hear the difference that makes those prices worth while?......I doubt it.....

I've had good and bad experiences with Shuguang types and derivatives like Psvane. Two very expensive Shuguang Natural Sound KT-88s failed within one year. My favorite center tube Black Treasure CV-181 developed low-level noise (rushing/ crackling) within the first year of use. The second CV-181 is hanging in with about four months of use.

I do use Psvane 12AU7s as phase inverters. Those tubes have been great and coming up on 1.5 yrs. I also have a set of Psvane KT-88s that worked well for 6 months. They were replaced by KT-120s as I like their sound better. Good tubes - very expensive.

Thanks one and all....sounds like they may be an expensive crap shoot. I have always liked the sound of the Valve Arts EL34's and they are very inexpensive and sound far better to my ear than some of the pricey Gold Lions (KT77 & KT66) even.

it seems that they are getting mullard prices for these tubes . why not just buy the real thing ?? a friend has gold lion kt 88's in his mark threes and within a year they sucked air . so i steer clear of those .

In case you guys weren't aware, RAM labs carries shuguang tubes. Roger sells only the best of the lots he buys after thorough testing and sends the rest back to the factory. Free matching too! For longer life he also recommends biasing the tubes at half their max dissipation.

My Shuguang Treasure KT-88s gave up the ghost after about 6 months, taking a bunch of wiring, tube sockets, switches and resistors with one. Jim McShane tested them and declared them crap. Never again will I buy these from what seemed a reputable seller on Ebay. The KT-120s he sold me, while not quite as detailed, are going on a couple of years now with no problems!

Ditto that on Jim McShane. Never had one of his tubes go south on me.
