I have an sp 9 with a ph 10 phono stage witch uses 12ay7... my question is can i use some of my vintage NON 12at7 bent wing blackplates in place of the stock tube....i believe the 12at7 is 60 mu and the 12ay7 is 45...BOB B

12ay7 is more like a 12ax7 / 5751 type of tube.
( i know that guitarfolks happily mix these tubes, but they are searching for distorsion)

the PH10 phono stage is optimized for the 12AY7 tubes, any other type will throw of the RIAA EQ completely

What Roy said! And also it's more than just the tube's mu that is important. Transconductance and plate resistance also factor in, and in a phono stage these values are all important.
