dynaco MK IV amp Empty dynaco MK IV amp

    Post by 57blues Sat May 02, 2015 2:31 pm

I am getting ready to have my Dynaco MK IV work done, I was sent a set of boards and electonic parts for the board. Next I am going to get a quad cap I think its called twist and turn? What is a good cap to get?
    Thanks John

Dynakitparts sells both the 525 volt and the 550 volt replacement quad caps for all the Dynaco amps. The 80, 40, 30, 20 uF is the one to get. The Mark IV can use either the 525 volt or the 550 volt rated cap. When you install the cap have the output line from pin 8 of the rectifier socket go to the 40 section and then have the two wires from the choke between the 40 and the 80 section. NOTE - the original Dynaco quad cap was a 30, 20, 20 ,20 uF cap but your Mark IV's can use the extra capacitance this cap will provide ..

Electrolytic caps have a limited life span. On any older original Dynaco amp, replacement of the ORIGINAL quad cap is really a necessity especially if you intend to play your Mark IV's on a daily basis.

    Hello 57Blues

    See my own thread https://dynacotubeaudio.forumotion.com/t2278-rebuild-of-some-really-old-mkiv-s?highlight=mKiv

These MkIV's were some old rusty clunkers when I bought them. They now are fabulous. Just put a quartet of Genalex Gold Lion KT77 on them..... Fabulous is the right word.

All of the components (including new chassis) were ordered from Dynakitparts...... the best way to go.

I wish you great success and a lot of fun

    Marc
