Vintage Tube Service's new and improved website

Andy Bowman, of Vintage Tube Services, is a great guy. I have purchased most of my NOS tubes from him and will continue to do so. Never got a bummer. His website is, insofar as I know, the most comprehensive collection of tube history and esoterica out there.
And he ain't afraid to tell you what he thinks. Just call him up. Email is pointless.

It will make an interesting read. As an owner of the m125's (virgin owner) I hastily purchased additional tubes. Output tubes KT88's as well as an extra driver tube. I don't view that purchase as a waste however through my own over enthusiasm I might have jumped the gun in not questioning whether or not different tubes would have changed the overall sound of the m125. Making that statement the m125's are the best amplifier I have ever owned and my first tube amplifier. I have listen to Rogue and MacIntosh and bang for the buch, construction, performance and service the m125's out perform the above tube amplifiers IMHO.

I am VERY HAPPY with the entire platform of my m125. Construction, transformers and tubes but sometimes variety is the spice of life with the introduction of different parts.

Must . . . Resist . . . M125 gravitational . . . Pull . . . . The futility of my resistsnce is of almost Borg-like proportion.

If I can just allow my visa card to recover a ,ittle bit more . . . .

Highly tempting! I'll probably hate myself for missing out.

I don't know why somebody hasn't snapped up beatboy's M-125s yet. If I had a few stray bucks I'd be on them like white on rice. They were built by AudioBill, who is a legend in the tube community. Only reason he's selling them is they turned out to be too big for his console, so has to put 'em on the floor where the dog and the kid hang out and his better half said, No Dice.

I suppose I could get over depriving myself the joy (and frustrations) of building.

Actually, in view of the price of the kit as well as my current inventory of tubes on hand, this wouldn't be a very good deal for me, personally. I already know from my ST-70, that I won't have trouble building one of Bob's kits, and what's more, I enjoyed doing it.

But for someone who is at all reluctant about building, or just doesnt' want to do so, then the reassurance of knowing an expert put these together makes this a very tempting deal.

I will have a pair of m125 monoblocks -- it just won't be today.

Well, you'd be saving more than a kilobuck in the process. Have to get your own output tubes but oh, well. Tungsol KT-120s are plentiful and cheap, and sound just grand in 'em. I prefer getting my Rooskie toobs from Jim McShane; believe he has the best quality-control standards.
I'm done with building kits as my eyesight, even after cataract surgery, just ain't quite up to it.

Afraid so, out of consideration for the general public. Didn't even take the medical this year -- why spend all that money just to flunk?

Well, better to "be on the ground wishing you could [see the sky], than . . . ." I hope you haven't been gypped out of too many years of flying that you wanted to do.

I was secretly hoping I would be able to learn a thing or two from you about flying when I'm down there. Heheh.
