This past year a couple of customers have mentioned to me about Monoprice Cables. This is an internet only company that started up in 2002 and began its growth by selling relatively inexpensive (and decent quality) HDMI cables during a time 10 or so years ago when HDTV was just warming up. Places like Best Buy and Circuit City were selling HDMI cables for big bucks and the Monoprice HDMI cables were less than half the price. Monoprice has a 30 day return policy, no restocking fees and a lifetime warranty on every cable that they sell. The owner of Monoprice Cables claims a 25 - 35% growth each year. They have a 173,000 square foot warehouse facility in Rancho Cucamonga, CA and stock ALL KINDS of cables. Recently they have branched out into selling ink, toner, computer gear and other items ...Check them out at the link below ..

    Monoprice Cables

To be clear, I have never purchased anything from this company but have gotten good feedback about them from two customers. If you have had any dealings with this company, post your comments in this thread.

Well, long as you're not a shareholder or anything ...

I got a bunch of their cables and though they were crap ... overly large jackets, impossible to bend ...

(say something good - say something good)

They were cheap enough I didn't lose any sleep tossing them out?

    I prefer Mogami myself.

    sKiZo,

I have no financial or any other interest in this company .. Thanks for your comments on their cables .. I did notice that they had a 28 inch 4K computer monitor for $400 and other interesting items are fairly low prices .. Maybe others can comment on other products that they sell ?

I have not bought any "audiophile" cables like RCA's there, so I can't comment on those. I have bought cheap RCA's and HDMI's to hook up parents DVD's, etc. They seem to be as good a quality for about 1/2 of what you get in a big box store.

I have bought a bunch of power cables, short extension cables, HDMI cables, etc. We have used them extensively at work also to run HDMI for projectors, DVI, VGA, etc, saving sometimes nearly 75%.

So they have their place, and have lengths you can't get locally (like the long runs of HDMI for projectors).

I've had bad luck with their RCA connectors.  I ordered three pairs of the premium RCA connectors and they are either too tight or too lose.  I try to make them fit and they broke. However, the balanced ones seem to get the job done!

I buy a lot of stuff from them, especially generic AC power cords, but I do agree their RCA interconnects are crap.
They sell a wide variety of useful things. I buy my laser printer toner from them, works great at 1/4th the price.
Amazon also has a good selection of various types of cables, lots of Monster Cable and Audioquest stuff

If you really want to save in printer toner, usually you can refill the cartridge yourself.
Remove the empty cartridge, locate the refill cap . You may have to remove part of the cartridge.
The refill kit can be bought for a fraction at Fleabay. Just search for the kit by printer model number.
I buy the refill kit for $3.94 free shipping for my Samsung ML2010.
The genuine cartridge will set me back about $80 bucks.

Hope I did not stray too much from the original topic.

I have the Pantum 2502W version of the Samsung ML2010. Actually, I think the Samsung is a version of the Pantum. As you state, refilling the toner cartridge is not that difficult; bulk toner is widely available on da Bay. The Pantum was on sale last week for $30 from newegg; I just hooked it up about an hour before I saw your post; works OK.

What I am trying to say is that some Samsung laser printers are made by Pantum. It's late, and I'm blurry eyed. Oh, screw it!

I also wouldn't buy stereo RCA interconnects from them. Used to, but too many of them had "death grip" connectors that were almost impossible to disconnect without damage to the equipment.

But HDMI cables (especially the slim Redmere style), USB, power, ethernet cables, etc... sure! They're good for those.

I have a USB cable from them and a 1/8" "phono-plug" type interconnect. They work fine for me. I have seen that they are getting some mixed reviews, so I hesitate to recommend them. My experience with the two samples has been great.

I suppose a lot depends on what you get, as it's all pretty much just rebranded stuff anyway? My problem is I got a bunch of interconnects and ended up tossing them. Only one I kept was a 20 footer I use to bridge the stereo room and tv system.

And don't forget the DAC: Monoprice DAC. It appears to be a combination of products offered by Fiio. I have a substantial collection of DACs, Maverick, Breeze, and Duoo, to name a few. I'd give the Maverick the edge among my group, but the sound of the Monoprice is outstanding and it's price is low. (The Chinese have captured this market.)

The Chinese may have captured the low end, but Grace, Benchmark, PS Audio, Dangerous Source, Lynx ,Audio Research and others are clearly considered the top of this product category, used by recording studios as well as high-end home audio.

    Brother Bill,
Who of the ones you mentioned do you like best? I'm still quite content with the Airporters but am in the mood to upgrade.

    Hi David,

I like the dac/preamp format, and own the Grace m920.

Of those listed, I would only rate the Lynx Hilo possibly higher, and then only because of it's extensive software controlled I/O routing.
Check them out at Sweetwater.com and tell Paul Allen I sent you.

Bluemeanies here also has the Grace.....

Then the Emotiva DC-1 comes very close for $500.

Of asian lineage, but an excellent value IMO, with dual AD 1955 converters per channel.

    Now back to cables.
nakamichiplugs.com...very reasonable pricing and quality made.
I purchased two PAIRS of cables from them, 12'/15' lengths with banana plugs for about $134.00 total.

Boy, that ain't bad. Obviously you're bi-wiring. How do they sound? I like Blue Jeans' cold-welded banana plugs and use 'em on my speaks, single-wired.

They sound just fine Dave....I am Not bi-wiring BTW. I am using jumper cables and I am very pleased.
I will admit I am NOT into the esoteric alumni with cables.
Perhaps on a chart, graph, or oscilloscope you can determine a difference but the bottom line is PRESENTATION...what YOU hear!
How are your ears these days?
I will bet that if you compare a thousand dollar $$$ pair of cables to a decent homemade brand or a pair of nakamichiplug.com cables for $60+ that you can't tell the difference with the human ear.

    KEY WORD...human...haha

I thought bi-wiring was a humbug too. and still think it's goofy, but the Vandersteens audibly appeared to benefit from it. The Tylers don't care. I took the jumpers out and tried bi-wiring, not a bit of diff. Maybe it's the way they build their xovers.
This whole cabling thing is full of snake-oil. All you're doing is moving electrons from Point A to Point B. Pretty basic.
