The warm glow of tubes on a cold winter night

Just installed Roy's octal driver boards into my  ST-120 based mono-blocks.
Using WW2 surplus National Union round plate VT-99 (6F8G) tubes, the sound is excellent!
I really like the look too, thought I would share:

Years ago, I bought some NOS 6F8-G tubes to keep for a 15 tube Zenith radio that used that tube. I boxed them up and they are put away. Basically forgot about them. Price has gone up since then!
Maybe some tubes are a good investment! Never would have expected that with the 6F8-G though.

I think so, esp. any early NOS audio related tube. I have been accumulating a few tubes, I look at them as a potential investment. I like the 6F8's round plate configuration, I believe the symmetry promotes linearity, lower distortion. I initially bought them for preamp use as an 6SN7 alternative, but they tend to get noisy when the filament and cathode aren't at nearly the same voltage. They warn against any voltage diff. in the spec sheets. In my preamp, it would have been a lot of rework to achieve that. But in the amps, they are very quiet, and sound great.

What?? They aren't supposed to look that way???? I set the bias just like the instructions said to, 5.50 volts.....
