check out this live performance at SuperBowl 2007 (many called it the best SuperBowl performance ever) - in the pouring rain!
wow, I hope that stage was isolated from ground . . .

Was playing in a funk band in 1980 when somebody brought in his second album. Very catchy fun tunes, he played everything and produced it at age 19 or 20 or so....heard he was coming to town and went to see him in Feb. 1982 and the show absolutely totally completely knocked us out. Had never, ever seen anything like it, and we were pretty seasoned musicians. My daughters were total fans and are, of course, devastated. He was too weird to live a long life. Groundbreaking, visionary, virtuoso, contradiction, tragic. Has not been a good year so far for aging megastars.
