Turret? Or is there a better way?

Post by j beede on Sun Jul 17, 2016 10:20 pm

I want to add some sort of grounded post to a PCB so I can do some grounding experiments. I suppose I could drill a hole in the board and use a 4-40x1/2"  or 2-56x1/2" screw and nut to create a post to solder to. I don't have room to add lugs to solder to. I've never used turrets... is this a better way to go?

Most all the work I do is point-to-point so I am (much) less familiar with PCB-oriented tweaks and what is available.

Turrets are pretty easy to use, and easy to solder to. All of the guitar amps that I've built use turret boards. I make my own turret bards from blanks so the layout is custom fit for what i need. You will need some turrets, turret board material, a drill and a punch. You can also use eyelets. Same principle but different style. You can also find blank turret boards if it fits your need.
