The Pursuit of Power Empty The Pursuit of Power

Here's an example of the lengths to which we go in the quest for perfect sound - when we have plenty of $$$. N.B. his amps are (gasp!) solid state.

Well, unless you are a WSJ subscriber you won't have the pleasure of reading this account of the Japanese gentleman who, at a cost of $40, 000, had his own AC mains pole and transformer placed in his backyard because "power is like blood - it must be pure." This complements the $100,000 or so in equipment he already possesses.
He claims vociferously that it was worth every penny.

Yes, you CAN read it as a non-subscriber to the Wall St. Journal:

    Go to www.google.com

Do a search for (exact words): A Gift for Music Lovers Who Have It All: A Personal Utility Pole

Click on the appropriate selection. This bypasses the WSJ's pay wall.

Yes - there are many who go a little overboard with their music systems. I guess if you have the $$$$ and want to sink it into your music system that's your own business .. Check out the Youtube video below of another expensive music system .. A really cool looking turntable is shown early in the video that probably cost just a little more than Deepee's new U-turn Orbit turntable. Make sure that you watch the video up to the 2:54 mark where the person who took the video gives his impressions on the sound quality of this system - LOL ..

If he's got the money, more power to him ...

(Ick, I hate puns but could not resist this one and will have difficulty looking in the mirror today)

I see a lot of eye candy and appreciation of hardware but where is the enjoyment of the music?
