Anyone here know how to fix problems in a tube type tuner . Or steer me to a good tech in

Pittsburgh . Really it's a receiver but the amp section is ok .

It would be useful to know the make and model, and the symptoms displayed. Could be as simple as a bad tube, could be much more.

Are the new tubes in it now? I will have to wait until this evening to download the video as it will not get past our firewall as-is. I assume that the video gives the symptoms?

And, if the symptoms are post-new-tubes, likely alignment is the issue. Often a complete re-tubing of a tuner will affect alignment in some way.

Having tuner problems in receiver Empty Found Tech

    Post by davek65 Mon Jan 09, 2017 3:56 pm

T talked with a Tech in Pittsburgh today and he has the equipment and tubes at hand .Is
very busy but will fix it . He says it will need an alignment and possibly need some caps .

I will be taking it to him . From our conversation i think he's a good tech .

i appreciate you response though .  It takes more knowledge than i have with tuners.

I think i was getting to a dead end with my experience . He said to leave the original

tubes in it . I said i was replacing tuner tubes with new he said NO...???

It is always best to start with the original tubes before doing any sort of troubleshooting. That way, no potential problems are disguised by "hot" tubes or, perhaps, even defective (new) tubes.

Let the tech determine what is needed, then complete an alignment based on that information. Leave him with the new tubes, however (mark them with a Sharpie with date, by the way). If he needs them he will have them.
