    Aloha from Hawaii!

Winter has been kind to Hawaii. Hope you are all safe.

I have a pair of Gallo Nucleus Reference 3.0's and wonder if anyone has experience with using a VTA-120 or M-125 with these speakers? I understand that they need a ton of solid state watts and am considering either an Anaview/Hypex/Pascal D class amp or tubes. I still have a Conrad Johnson PV-1 and MV-75a1, although they are broke and I don't want to ship them to Virginia for work.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Blessings,

The Gallo Nucleus Reference 3.0's are 88 dB efficient which is just a little on the low side of average efficiency. Since these speakers will take up to 350 watts of power, I would recommend a pair of VTA M-125's to drive them. Although rated conservatively at 125 watts per monoblock, the M-125 amps will play as loud (or louder) than many 200 WPC solid state amps. The M-125's will also image better and have a more lifelike presentation of acoustic instruments (sax, trumpet, acoustic guitar etc.) and vocals than most solid state amps ...
