I have the mind to build the VTA 120 one of these days. I also have my eye on a pair of KEF LS 50's that are suppose to sound great, I was wondering if anyone here has had a go with those KEF's here and how they work with these amps

Re: KEF LS50 speaker
That speaker has a sensitivity of only 85dB. It will probably sound ok but not get very loud. If the room you're going to build this for is small then this may be ok.

I actually have a pair of KEF C30's here. They are not exactly the KEF LS50 but my VTA ST-120 drives them fine. The LS50's are only 85 dB efficient but I do have customers using speakers in that efficiency range that use a VTA ST-120's to drive them. I had at one time here a pair of 86 dB Magnepan 1.6's. The VTA ST-120 drove them to pretty loud levels in my 12 X 20 downstairs music room.

Re: KEF LS50 speaker
The C30's have a sensitivity of 90dB while the LS50's are at 85dB. Seems to me the C30's would be a better choice. However, auditioning the speakers before purchasing is probably the best way to move forward.
