    12X4 rectifiers Empty 12X4 rectifiers

Since I've got the hood off the SP-13 awaiting a pair of 6CG7s (and some De-Oxit) thought I might as well replace the Raytheon 12X4 rectifier which is about 50 years old. But alas, the cupboard was bare.
Anyone got a favorite 12X4? Or is it time for a trip to Tube Depot for whatever's cheapest?

    WHY??

    a) Raytheon made some of the best tubes on this planet - every one of them mil.spec.
    b) Rectifiers are perhaps some of the most simple, least failure-prone tubes there are.
    c) I have quite a number of rectifier tubes from 1927 that have well into 5 figures of hours on them, and are still just fine, thank you.

And, if you are still not convinced, I actually do have a spare - Dynaco, even. So, let me know. I could *really* use the $$$$$.

I dunno, Peter. $4 is a little rich for me, settle on $3.99 plus $1,600 PayPal fees?

Peter typed FIVE dollar signs. That means it's $5, not $4. Razz Razz

Maybe I could trade him some aluminum foil from one of my hats to rectify the situation.

    deepee,

Seriously, Peter W. is correct. Check it on an emission tester. I bet it will check out just fine. The 12x4 is operated well within its specs in a SP-13.

I figured as much. Having out-grown tube-rolling all I keep is enough inventory on hand should something fail. My arthritic back and the way I've got things set up makes un-cabling everything and sliding the errant component out of its hidey-hole for diagnostics a bit of a pain in the backside-- forgive the redundancy.
Living so far out in the boonies it ain't a 5-minute trip to Radium Shack for a replacement part, so I like having two of everything I can trust within reach.
Cheers and thanks everyone. Thread's closed as far as I'm concerned.

Guitar Center seems to be the only place I can go to to buy a limited selection of tubes. Nowadays Radio Shack denies any association to radios or any type of audio unless you think hifi is plugging earbuds into a smart phone.

I went into one a while ago and told the millennial I needed Deoxit. He brought me to a display of cell phone accessories and said I should be able to one I need.

I know what you mean. I asked for contact cleaner and got a blank look. They had it, I just had to find it myself.
