Iceland: time for a meet-up?

This looks like a rockin' event, and my friends there say everyone is Iceland is a tube junkie and unlike Europe, they run on 117 VAC.

I have a friend that travels the world for a hobby. She's been to Iceland twice. She liked the country.

Would love to experience (from a safe distance) an Icelandic "curtain of fire" volcano eruption.

Well, they seem to get by with those volcanoes and it's free energy.
Only been there a couple of times on overnight stop-overs at KEF but even out in the sticks, I felt very welcome.
No excuse for East Coasters not to show up. It's a 3-hour jet-ride, and the single-malt is tax-free.
See ya there. I'm gonna go where the volcano blows.

I've been to Iceland af couple of times - really nice and interesting country.

However Iceland is NOT running 117 VAC, they use standard European power plugs and standard european voltage = 230V AC 50hz.

In Iceland (there twice on emergency layovers) most places that accommodate American Tourists have 120VAC. And, of course, there is a major former American military naval air station and more, and a few US military back there again. Accordingly, there is more 120VAC there than one might ordinarily expect in a Euro country.

I always carry one of those 240/120 converters when I travel outside the Americas. Stuck a cheap one in wrong-side up in Casa Blanca once, got a light show. It darkened the whole hotel floor. Which was Not A Good Thing as the Saudi royal family was staying a few floors up. Just yanked it and stepped outside my room, looked up and down the hall, and asked Security if anyone else had lost power. I still have that toasted little bit of Bakelite around here somewhere.
