    Hi all,

I have two Dynaco ST-70s, and it's funny - the older chassis is shinier than the newer one. I guess, it's all relatively speaking as both amps are pretty old Smile.

Could you please share your experience and tips on how to clean the chassis so that the letters on the chassis remain intact? I'd like to do just basic cleaning, without removing the transformers and boards...

    Thanks!

Ammonia diluted with water is a good way to start for light cleaning. I use a soft sponge, barely damp with ammonia 1 part to 3 parts water. I wipe with the sponge and dry immediately with a cotton terry cloth towel. This method is great for cleaning of any old stereo gear. It will not strip plastics of their luster like alcohol based cleaners. Obviously, more aggressive petro-solvents or abrasives are out.
