    Hi to all:
I'm looking for a cheap (beater ST-70) with usable trannies for a project. I can pay about $75-100. Any offers out there??

    Hi Baddog,

Unless you luck in to a good deal somewhere it will be next to impossible to find even a "beater" ST-70 for under even $200. Most Dynacophiles know that a set of three (working) ST-70 transformers alone are worth $200 or possibly a little more.

Check Ebay from time to time .. ... Sometimes you can luck into a good deal ...

I bought one of mine on Epay for $180 incl. shipping. Had no tubes, pitted on the top and very dirty and whether it functioned or not was in question. It did have the cage and all of it's other parts. Upon rebuilding it, I discovered that one of the OP transformers was bad and replaced it, but that ate up the money I saved...It did clean up nicely and sounds fantastic! The cage is almost perfect. I could probably sell someone the cage for almost half of what I paid for the amp. Very Happy

BTW, whatever happened to that 70 that Bob posted a picture of? You know, the one that looked like it actually had been used as a boat anchor? affraid

    Hi,

The photos of that "boat anchor" ST-70 are on one of our Dynaco Tube Audio Forum threads at the link below ...

Worst looking ST-70 of all time ?
