VTA ST 70 DUAL MONO POWER SUPPLY

Post by kost on Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:28 am

    Hi to all

I wonder what will happen if someone modifies a VTA st 70
in dual mono external power suply configuration.
I mean that you have a seperate chassis with two power transformers, two rectifiers, two power filter capacitors.

    Any advise????

    Hi Kost,

What you are describing is basically a pair of Dynaco Mark IV's which are pretty much an ST-70 on two separate chassis. If you want something like this I would look for a pair of Mark IV's on Ebay and then get a pair of VTA driver boards from Roy at tubes4hifi. If you are going to play monoblocks like this on a daily basis you should probably go through both amps completely and replace both quad caps, tube sockets and any other parts that look worn.
