i just replaced a blown rectifier and while setting bias the new rectifier blew and the fuse also went at same time . i pulled the fuse and upon inspection i noticed the fuse was only rated at .5 amp / 240 vp. and i think it should be 3. amp . is this common that this could happen or should i take it to a tech?

Correct Fuse
The correct fuse rating for the ST-70 operating @ 240 vac would
be 1.5 amps...This should be a SloBlo type fuse. Also referred to
as a time delay fuse.
If this size fuse blows...then it time to find a tech.
