1 Craigtone's System on Sun Dec 21, 2008 8:18 pm

Here is my ST-70 system ...

Sources: Rega P2 w/DL-103, NAD C521BEE w/OPA627 op-amps & output cap bypass
Preamps: Rotel Phono w/LM4562 op-amps & output cap bypass, Bottlehead FPIII w/upgraded caps & RCA Clear-tops
Amp: Dynaco ST-70 w/original iron, tubes4hifi driver, RCA clear-tops and JJ KT77's
Speakers: Klipsch RF-7's

The ST-70 driver is the original tubes4hifi PCB. I am in the process of removing it and replacing it with the new Lo Gain version due to the 102db efficiency of my new RF-7's. I also want to use Auricaps this time. Last upgrade for this system will be a Bottlehead Seduction tube phono preamp.

Hi Craigtone. I have an identical ST-70 setup as you do. Doesn't the amp get extremely hot having so little air above it? Dynaco-Greetings! //Swede52

Yes, mine gets very hot as well. I have a friend that has the Triode Electronics replacement Power Transformer that has 30% more iron in the core and it runs a good 50% cooler. I figure as long as mine works I'll deal with the heat until the transformer goes bad then replace it with the Triode model.
