ac line voltage - Line voltage Empty Line voltage

Post by wildiowa Wed Sep 26, 2012 10:23 am

Saw a couple of recent posts here re: line voltage so did a reading on mine again...wall outlet is now 124.5 VAC pretty consistently. This summer it was about 121 to 122. Given that number what would be a decent compromise on setting the bias on a stock Mark III (KT88's) and my ST70? Right now I am at about 1.45 to 1.47 to compensate for the higher line voltage but I have nothing to base that on. Funny that most if not all the old tube stuff I have seen clearly says 117 VAC, todays line is much higher. Thx.

ANSI standard C84.1: 120volts, plus or minus six volts.

110, 115 and 117 are all previous standards, now obsolete.
