    Voltage reduction Empty Voltage reduction

    Post by 69Cutlass Sun Apr 28, 2019 10:35 am

    Hi All,

    First post!

I am a new VTA ST-120 owner and have a question about reducing the voltage in my house, it reads at 126v at the plug. Bob recommends a variac, but, there is a product called BrownBox made for guitar tube amps. Has anyone tried it?

    Thanks,
    Andy

Welcome. Suggest searching bucker transformer, these are simple voltage reducing devices that only cost a few bucks to assemble.

I've built several bucking transformers with minimal tech skills (I can solder).
I used this information to base my bucker builds.

    https://robrobinette.com/5e3_Modifications.htm#Bucking_Transformer

Depending on what parts you may have lying around this should cost under $20 - $40.

No need for solder skills when assembling a bucker.

I used a terminal strip and soldered wires to that to make connections.
