Grooveshark was "resurrected" by someone who claimed to be a former Grooveshark employee,
    at grooveshark.io

It really appeared to be a clone of (or a link to) mp3juices.se

The court shut it down on petition by the RIAA.

Someone alleging to be the same person then opened Grooveshark.li

He says that if the RIAA gets a court to shut that one down, he's ready.  "...when they get to
that I already have the next one ready to go — see how this works?   Always one step ahead,
because when you shut down li I aleady have 12 more in my back pocket.  And that’s just the
    layer you can see."

"...just so I can be 100% clear: GROOVESHARK WILL NEVER DIE!  I’m gonna make sure of that."

It's actually kind of fun to watch.

"Pirate Bay" is the quintessential example of this. After the dark forces have spent millions and pulled every trick in the book to bust its ass "The Bay" is always back online in a short time.
Kim Dotcom is another martyr who has been unfairly attacked and has re-surfaced after being robbed and criminalized. He is still around in the cloud.
There are too many ways to get around the repression of net content. Too many bright young minds tweaking the possibilities and too many places not in agreement with the copyright dragons.
I with agree with GP49 and unless they pull the plug on the net itself it will find a way to remain free. Pulling the plug of course is not an option we are way past that.
Better to break the old paradigm and let the artists become the benefactors of their work, not greedy corporations.

What is the resolution for Grooveshark?

If less than 16/44, why not use Tidal or Qobuz?

If less than 320, why not use Spotify Premium?

Because many of the target audience don't care about sound quality.

Earbuds and mp3 players are their choice for quality listening ("Hey, man, what's a FLAC?"). scratch

FLAC = Free Lossless Audio Codec

Whereas mp3 will throw away some information when compressing the audio file, FLAC files do not throw away information. When you play a FLAC file, you get all the information that was in the original audio file.

"Hey, man, my pocket digital player won't do FLAC so why should I worry; those low bitrate mp3s sound fine over my Dollar Store earbuds through my blown-out eardrums and acid-degraded brain!"
