Hi Bill,
I had heard about the Philharmonic speakers from a customer who had purchased a pair of VTA M-125's in kit form to drive his Philharmonic 2 speakers. Like the Tyler Acoustic speakers, these speakers use quality drivers and crossovers. They are also priced very good for what you get. ($3500) The Philharmonic 2 speakers seen below in the photo have been now replaced by the model 3. The only downside to these is that they are 85 dB efficient and need some power to drive them. The owner mentioned to me that he gets plenty of volume out of his speakers in this room when driven by the M-125's ... As to how they sound ? I cannot comment because I have not heard the speakers myself.

Are the woofer boxes transmission lines? They look too big to be anything else.

If it helps any, I can drive my 90db McIntosh speakers to 100+ SPLs with no appreciable distortion using the ST120 loaded up with a quad of KT120's ...

Beautiful speakers would love to hear a pair, you cant go wrong with well designed planars or ribbon drivers!!

The BMR' are a very impressive speaker which I had looked at when considering a second system for an "on the drawing board" at the time, 2channel TUBE system.
An impressive heavy duty 7" woofer from Scan Speak which may had been developed specifically for the BMR since Scan Peak lists no such woofer in their catalog. The Raal ribbon tweeters are hailed for there extended accuracy and I have heard they may be too revealing for inaccuracies in certain recordings especially vinyl/hi res. What I do like about the Raal tweeter is that it deliberately accents such things as the snare drum and cymbals which when done correctly can give the nuance of a live in your face performance in your private listening room.
Also the BMR technology is something new. While researching I found that this technology allows sound from the treble and midrange in be inclusive in one speaker as opposed to the treble and mid range being separated in most other speakers notably my B&Ws.
About that fact, speaker separation, Philharmonic seems IMO to be a bit old school or at least they are blending some old technology with new.
