    Tough Mudder Mullard

Post by LeGrace on Thu Jun 01, 2017 6:15 pm

I have a GZ37 Mullard that got red plated due to an issue with my amp. Causing it to light up like the 4th of July. NOS tube circa 60's or so. Figured it was toast but a couple weeks on now of daily use surprisingly it is still working perfectly. Definitely worth the $$'s. Anyone else with similar experience illustrating how tough these tubes are?

Although this horse is quite thoroughly dead, flayed, flensed, dried and jerked: They just don't make them like they used to!

I have, due to my own silliness and/or other reasons, red-plated any number of pentodes and other tubes entirely without consequence (to the tube) over time. But, then, they were all pre-1980 stuff.

I have three of those old Mullards with <10 hours on them; a pair of GZ-33s and one GZ-37. They stand about as tall as the Eiffel Tower and are bullet-proof.
They are for sale. Check the For Sale/Wanted sticky on page 1 of the Forum.
