How i add ventilation slots to my Dynaco PAS 3 with basic tools.

When i saw the PAS cover with ventilation slots at Dynakit i said to myself; i can do that.

I use the screws holes as reference and do the layout pictured below.
I drill 8 holes with a 3/32 drill bit.
I enlarge the holes with a 3/16 drill bit. (cutting oil or any oil will help)
I use a 1/8 drill to rough out the slots and use swiss files first and a larger file to complete the slots.
Brown paint will complete the job.
I have many years of experience at an airplane factory so don't be angry at me if you messed up your cover.

Looks like you did a pretty good job using all hand tools for the layout work and fabrication.

Clean work. Great job.
I'd screw something like that up in about 5 seconds :-(

Man that looks professional. A lot harder to actually do and make it look like that than most actually think.

I check with my laser thermometer and i found if i add slots on the bottom plate near the faceplate it will help for cooling the cover for an other 5 degrees for a total of 10 degrees celsius over the ambient surfaces.

It was not particularly difficult for me but it need a little patience for best results.

If you use an abrasive wheel go slowly of the heat will damage the paint.

I wanted to show it can be done at home.
