ST70 - Tube heater center tap capacitor Empty ST70 - Tube heater center tap capacitor

    Post by Don_U Sun Mar 19, 2023 5:54 pm

    Hello:
    Question about ST70:
What is the .02uf cap that connects to center tap used for? Is it correct that it decouples oscillation?
    Thanks,
    Don

As far as I can tell I think it allows the heater center tap to float at some “arbitrary” dc value Vs a more traditional voltage divider to elevate ground? How? No clue. I have however, wondered if the latter approach is beneficial in these amps. One of these days I may put a meter on it….
