...of the KT120 Tung-Sol tube. It's posted in another forum, and it might be good to post it here too if you don't mind Mr. Latino.

Bob did a nice job of describing the sonic differences between the KT-88 and the KT-120, rather than just talking about the mechanical and electrical differences. The differences he describes ("tubier" in particular) are often the results of differing distortion spectra between two tube types - and the curves on the two tubes seem to confirm that as the likely reason for the difference.

Also, FWIW I've had zero problems with them in the short time I've had them. That's always a good thing!!

    Thanks again Bob!

As for the Kt12o at $200 for a quad an a good KT88 at $110 for a quad, there not more than just a diff tube....Now if you ging to put 600-700VB+ on the plate, the 120 may be the way to go.... The AR tube amps Most all run at 440VB+ on the plates...An i to think this sounds best it a sweet spot... I have drop my MK3s down to 450VB+ sound is much more tubey. With the AR amps that have always sounded to me,On the bright side the 120 helps but i dont hear the diff in cash... Mybe for most it just money...Just one mans o-pine

    Thanks for the site Bob
