Re: SCA- 35 Tube Rolling Suggestions
Hi,
One of the best values around for an EL84 tube is the Russian equivalent EL84 tube > the 6P14P tube. These tubes are sold on Ebay by a number of Russian vendors. Don't be afraid to buy. The vendors that I have used have been dead reliable. Just expect a 2 week wait for the tubes to be delivered after you make your purchase. Even with shipping, the tubes will only cost you $5-$7 a tube. I use 4 of these in my personal ST-35 and they sound great. They appear to be very durable also. If you buy them in a lot of 8 tubes usually all tubes will have the same lot number and be fairly closely matched.
For 7199 driver tubes either RCA or Sylvania tubes work fine. Both of these tubes used are better than a NEW Sovtek 7199 which you still may find around. Remember, however, that 7199's are not made anymore and the prices keep rising on the stock that is currently available now. These tubes though can last 5000 - 10,000 hours and buying a "used" (RCA or Sylvania) 7199 tube is usually not a problem. There is no DIRECT REPLACEMENT for a 7199 tube although rewiring the circuit and/or using tube adapter sockets may allow you to use another tube in its place.

Re: SCA- 35 Tube Rolling Suggestions
Thanks Bob , I have read some more recommendations that suggest using GE 6BQ5 GREY OVAL PLATE EL-84'S ,Sylvania 7199 Grey Plate and the SOVTEK 12AX7 LBS. Ordering new PC-10 output,PC-11 preamp and power supply cap board from Audio Regenesis.Frankly the SCA amp sounds really good now - current set-up Shuttle PC running XP ,iTunes,Keces DA 151 DAC, WOO WA2 Headphone/Pre Amp,Dynaco SCA-35,Klipsch Heresy HBR and HD650 Sennheiser headphones.
Cheap audio cables - need to upgrade - on tight budget - suggestions?
Slowly building and refining on limited funds
Any other fine tuning suggestions would be appreciated....

For good audio cables try either Signal Cable or Blue Jeans Cable online. I have used both and they are well made, sound good and not particularly expensive.

Re: SCA- 35 Tube Rolling Suggestions
Following Bob's previous recommendation to me about cables, I went with Blue Jeans, and have been really pleased. Turn around time was very fast, prices so reasonable they might make you smirk. I went back a second and third time for more.
