    KT-90 EH vs KT-120  Empty KT-90 EH vs KT-120

    Hello, I want to know if somebody has tried KT-90 (Electroharmonics as Ei are now almost impossible to get) and if they are better sounding than Tungsol KT-120.
    I actually use KT-120 and like a lot the sound, but want to try KT-90.

    Best regards!

    @rich,

    have not tried the kt120s, but I do use the EH kt90s.
    They are placed in a ST70 that has a MKIII power tranny, so the plates a little higher than a normal ST70.  This unit also has the octal driver board.

    I am not a fan of EH tubes.   Having said that, the ST70 mentioned above is by far the best sounding ST70 I have ever built and I attribute that in some measure to the KT90s.

    Thankyou for your reply gener8r, I will give kt-90 a try, so I can also use a 5AR4 rectifier instead the weber wz68 I have.

    Best regards!

    I was using a 5AR4 with my KT120's without issue. If anything I would have expected slightly shorter life on the tube due to the additional load.

    I've since upgraded to a Mullard GZ37. More because I like big bottles than anything else.  clown

    I knew the GZ37 was big, but I hadn't realized it's actually taller than the KT120's ... thing's built like a tank too ...
