I have a chance to purchase a pair of Thiel CS1.2 speakers and I'm wondering if an ST70 will be a good match with them.

Re: Thiel CS 1.2
Those Thiels are not very efficient (someone with more knowledge can chime in with specs) but if your 70 is one of Bob's with actual 45 wpc it should be fine.
I had the privilege of touring the Thiel facility in Lexington, KY several years ago. They use quality materials and knowledgeable assembly and testing. It was great to see such care in building. A side note: they have many exotic woods for special order. No I am in no way associated with Thiel, just a fan of quality speakers.

Re: Thiel CS 1.2
I just found this info today. Looks like I may need to pass on these speakers but I'd still appreciate some input.
Sensitivity: 87dB/W/m. Nominal impedance: 4 ohms. Minimum amplifier power: 40W.

Thiel CS1.2 With Tube Amps
I already have a pair of Thiel CS1.2s as well as a pair of Thiel CS2.3s, and I would NEVER in a million years replace these speakers. I have had several pairs of Pro Acs, Older Infinity Kappa 7s and Kappa 9s with emit K ribbon tweeter , several pairs of B&Ws, Sonus Faber, Martin Logan CLS, several pairs of Paradigms.....in the end I sold all of them and kept the Thiels.
I am ordering my Bob Latino amp next week, and I've emailed back and forth with him several times. His opinion is that the Thiels are an excellent match for his amplifiers. However because the Thiels are inefficient speakers, they are not a good match for the ST-70 specifically if you like music loud on occasion. He recommended the ST-120 or M-125 monoblocks with his capacitor upgrage of Nichion power supply caps, as well as the Russian paper in oil coupling caps.
I'll report next month when I get some time on the amp, and can do some listening comparison.
