Would anyone know of, or perhaps may be using a tube or SS PCB that might be sqeezed into an upgraded PAS3X or new SP9 to connect a CD player using SPDIF. I can do this with an external DAC that would connect to the PAS3X with analog RCA cables, but I'd like to think I can add this inside the chassis. Thanks

Re: SPDIF input for upgraded PAS3X
you'll need to convert SFDIF to audio format first
check ebay, lots of chinese vendors have interesting and inexpensive options to do things like that

This one is pretty tiny but you would have to wire in a USB power supply.

Of course there are probably much better external dacs out there that might be a bit bigger. I recommend Musical Fidelity V-90 DAC. http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MFV90DAC It comes with a wall wart power supply.
