A new USA made turntable ... The Shinola Runwell (video)

Looks nice but I just can't get past the name...

Has a built in mm preamp and no visible anti skating. Looks like a potentially serious turntable that got seriously compromised by design choices.
Lose the cheapie preamp on a chip and add anti-skating

With the amount of advertising they are paying for, Shinola obviously has bigger plans than five hundred turntables.  They are all over the Internet and even have a billboard on the main street between downtown San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Shinola Detroit, the manufacturer, has no connection with the original Shinola shoe polish company other than having acquired the trademark from the heirs of the Shinola company which went out of business in 1960. But they do include shoe polish among their products which include wristwatches, and now a turntable.

I guess we're just lucky they didn't follow Schiit's example for a catchy brand name ...

Wonder if those will still be spinning after 40 years like my trusty ol' Mitsu? Guess I'll just have to stick around and find out!

Well, if you were choosing between listening to analog or digital material, and you happened to have both the above mentioned products in your system, then the choice would be between Schiit or Shinola.

Not knowing Schitt from Shinola is the reason Bose is in business.
