Passive Preamp for VTA ST70 Empty Passive Preamp for VTA ST70

Post by Riddler Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:50 pm

I recently upgraded my all original st70 with the a vta driver board, spk binding posts, rca jacks and all JJ tubes. I went with the high gain ECC81 or 12AT7 option and would like to build a passive preamp to go with this system. Any good ideas?

I am utilizing this amp to power my ML Aerius I speakers. The warmth, clarity, and sound stage comming from this system is second to none that I have heard. This AMP if must consider if you are true listner.

If you have an ST-70 and you want a passive preamp for your ST-70 you should probably take a look at the stepped attenuator kit that Bob offers for ST-70 amps. You pull the stereo-mono switch out and put the attenuator in its place. I have one in my ST-70 and it works great. I just have a CD player hooked up to my ST-70 and don't need a selector switch. If you have just one signal source this is probably the least expensive way to use a passive volume control for your ST-70. Bob has them for sale in the Item's For Sale area of this forum. RockyAM
