Has anyone here swapped out the EL 34 in their VTA ST 70 for a quad of 6L6GC?

Better, worse, a little difference, no difference? Just curious.

I use JJ 6L6GC tubes in my VTA ST70. The original Dynaco manual says that you can use them.
I switched to them because they give a brighter high end. I found the difference to be very noticeable.

This is what I have found also over the years .. EL34's tend to have a more mellow, "midrangy" sound. A 6L6 will have a little more top end energy ..

    Thanks.
I think I may try it. I'm currently using (formerly NOS) Mullard EL34 but the bias isn't 100% steady. Nothing horrible but trying some new tubes, especially maybe with a little more "sparkle" sounds interesting.
I suppose I'll try some new TAD STR 6L6's. Most people (at least in the guitar world) seem to like these for new production. I think they're just screened Chinese tubes.
NOS might be a little steep for an experiment.
